Calculate Percentage Change
Formula Used
The formula for calculating percentage change is:
Percentage Change = ((Final Value - Initial Value) / Initial Value) × 100
How It's Calculated
- Subtract the final value from the initial value.
- Divide the result by the initial value
- Multiply by 100 to convert to a percentage
- Round the result to two decimal places
- If the result is positive, it's a percentage increase.
- If the result is negative, it's a percentage decrease.
Example
If the old value is 80 and the new value is 100:
- Initial Value: 80
- Final Value: 100
- Percentage Change: [(100 - 80) / 80] x 100 = (20 / 80) x 100 = 25%
The percentage change is an increase of 25%.
